Last week I shared my favorite style and pattern trends for Fall 2022. Today I'm going to share the top 5 jewelry, bag, and shoe trends. Accessories are a great way to experiment with trends each season. I love the idea of curating a wardrobe full of basics and classics that never go out of style. Then I can add a fun shoe or handbag to incorporate the latest trends without spending a lot of money. Plus, if the items that are currently trending that season are something that fits my style personality and can be worn for years to come, it's a great time to invest in a piece or two when they're easier to find in the stores. One example is loafers. Loafers are a classic shoe that will always be around. But some years, like right now, they will be trending. Which means you'll see more of them in the stores this fall and will have a larger selection to find a pair that is perfect for you.
Top 5 Shoe Trends
Loafers
Ballet Flats
Mary Janes
Boots - Over the Knee, Motorcycle, and High Ankle
Sneakers
As stated above, loafers continue to be popular this season. We've seen them over the last year and the trend is holding strong. Opt for platforms, heels, or classic loafers and you'll have a versatile shoe that you can wear with almost any outfit for years to come. Next up, ballet flats are a nod to the 90's style we're seeing everywhere this fall. I remember wearing ballet flats constantly back in my late teens and early 20's. Sam & Libby were my favorite brand and they had little bows on them. I had them in multiple colors, but pink was my favorite. This year you'll find ballet flats in lots of silhouettes - round toe, pointed toe, and even Mary Janes. Speaking of Mary Janes, they are popular this season in lots of styles. The picture above shows 2 options from Sam Edelman. I opted for black Mary Jane ballet flats this year so I'm able to incorporate both trends with a single shoe. The next trend won't be a surprise to anyone. Boots are a staple every fall. This year boot styles have risen to new heights with over the knee boots making a comeback. Plus you'll see ankle boots with a slightly higher shaft than the short booties that were popular a few years ago. If you like a little edginess, try adding a motorcycle boot. I'm planning to wear my Chelsea and combat boots again this fall, which fit both the high ankle & motorcycle trend. Lastly, fashion sneakers are not going anywhere anytime soon. This trend continues to be popular season after season and is quickly becoming a classic. Choose plain white or add some color for a fun look.
Top 5 Bag Trends:
Chain Handles
Crescent Shape
Totes
All Things Fuzzy
Camera Bags with Wide Strap
A few weeks ago I walked into TJ Maxx and immediately saw two bags that I had to have! It's so fun shopping when you know what styles are trending. Then when you see them you can quickly scoop them up. I purchased a bag with chain detail and a camera bag with a designer strap. You'll see both of these bags in my social media posts over the next few months. Bags with chain details and chain straps are hot this fall. Choose a chain that matches the jewelry you wear most often. For example, if you're a cool and wear silver accessories, find a bag with a silver chain. Next up, crescent bags are the it-girl bag this season. I'm seeing a flashback to the late 90's and early 2000's when Sex and the City was the hottest show on TV. Carrie Bradshaw made the Fendi baguette the most popular bag silhouette for years. I might not be able to afford a Fendi, but this bag style can be found everywhere from boutiques to Amazon to consignment stores. As every day handbags get smaller it's great to have an everyday tote for larger items. Carrying an extra pair of shoes or an umbrella to the office? Grab a gorgeous leather or statement designer logo tote. While the previous trend is a classic, the next two are fun and funky. If you're a fashionista and love sporting the latest fashions, the last 2 bag styles are ones you might want to be on the lookout for. If you're looking for something unique try a fun, furry handbag. Or add a designer logo camera bag for a practical but stylish crossbody. These bags are sure to turn heads.
Top 5 Jewelry Trends
Crystals
Cuffs
Fringe Elements
Gigantic Pearls
Unfinished Arcs
Like icing on a cake, jewelry is sure to add the finishing touch to a great outfit. We continue to see fashion cycle out only to see it back again decades later. The same thing goes for accessories. Do you remember when Swarovski crystal jewelry was all the rage? I remember being dazzled in the Swarovski store but I don't think I ever purchased anything. If you did and still have it somewhere in your jewelry box, it's time to go dig it out this fall. Next up is cuff bracelets - whether large, small, metal, or natural materials - choose the one that suits your style personality and add this trend to your jewelry wardrobe this fall. Fringe elements are a fun way to add pops of color to your closet this season. Choose a necklace, earrings, or both! Looking for a fun twist on a classic? Pearls have grown to gigantic proportions this year. Find necklaces or earrings with pearls so large they're called "gobstoppers" for an accessory that's sure to be noticed. Lastly, unfinished arcs can be found in bracelets, earrings and half chokers. This trend is sure to be a favorite with fashionistas as this style is reminiscent of wearing a piece of art.
Which of these style trends are your favorite? What items will you be adding to your closet this year? Or something you already have that you'll be wearing this season? Make sure you're following my social media pages to see posts where I share my outfit of the day highlighting the fall trends as I wear them. I'd also love for you to post your fall pics and tag me so I can see how you style your fall wardrobe.
