I feel out of sorts. I recently moved from the cozy in-town apartment I have rented for the past 4.5 years to a new spacious home out in the country. I have spent the last few months packing in preparation for the move. It took a full weekend to get everything moved plus nearly an entire day to clean and turnover the old place. And now comes the unpacking. If you've ever moved. you know the mental and physical stress that is associated with the task. I feel as though this move has sucked up not only all of my time, but the entire capacity of my brain for the past few weeks.
It's challenging when we try to spread ourselves too thin and be all things to all people. Or accomplish every task we're used to doing in the midst of changes. Whether it's an exciting time such as a move, new relationship, becoming a parent, starting a new business or we're dealing with painful struggles such as a breakup, financial hardship, or grieving a loss, change is often hard to navigate. We all experience moments where we feel like we need to press the pause button and catch our breath. This is where I find myself right now.
I'm a creature of habit and not knowing where things are and not having my new place set up (yet) has been a bit of a challenge. I feel like my life is somewhat on hold until I get things put back into place. Have you ever felt this way? It's like the clutter of the boxes is cluttering my mind. I am so ready to have everything in its right place and get back to the important things on my to-do list. Right now I am especially eager to start working in my business again. One of the things I really can't wait to dive back into is filming new content for my YouTube channel.
Speaking of that, one of the things I'm most excited about in my new space is that I will have a separate office/filming space! When I first started my channel I was hoping to create a studio in my apartment but never quite had the room. If you've been following my channel since the beginning you may have noticed that the background of my videos changed frequently as I was trying to determine the best spot with the best lighting. I have filmed in the living room, dining room, my bedroom, and even the bathroom. Each time I spent up to 30 minutes rearranging the room and setting up ring lights, tripods, and more. Then after filming I'd have to break it all down and put the room back together. My plan with the new space is to set the room up in such a way that I can simply turn the camera on and start. Saving myself valuable time each week. However, that room is not in any state to begin just yet. It's a big jumbled mess right now and unfortunately tasks like unpacking my kitchen had to take priority. I am hoping to get into the office and start organizing and setting up the space sometime in the next week. Once that task is complete I will be able to get back to filming and creating new content for my channel.
If you are one of my regular subscribers thank you for your patience! In the meantime, I encourage you to head to my channel and check out some of my playlists. I have over 4 years worth of videos for you to browse. I am planning a new series that I'm super excited about but I'd also love to hear from you! What types of videos are your favorites? Makeup, skin care, style? Let me know! You can leave a comment on this post, find me on any of my socials, or email me at dawn@beautybydawnb.com
I guess it's time to get back to these boxes. But I will also give myself grace and make sure to build in time for rest. I hope you will do the same this week.
Dawn,
It's such an exciting time for you, I also understand your stress that comes with it, I moved 3 years ago to a completely different State, climate, and feel I am just now getting settled as to where I feel comfortable.
I always look forward to your U tube channel information for make up and style updates. I am sure others feel the same. So you get settled and we will enjoy your next video when can push the resume button once again! . I'm sure it will just like a Fresh new day .
